A poem for today

TODAY THE CLOUDS

Today the clouds are giant white feathers
brushing against the blue morning sky
and as I walked in the desert heat,
a Raven feather fell to my feet,
dark and perfect,
 just as the sun
took her place in the world

I knew that the feathers
were a message from you,
as if you were hugging me close,
assuring me that love could never end if
we both believed with all our hearts
in forever

I saw the crescent moon
still hung in the heavens
as if to beckon me forward
and so I walked onward
and then I spoke your name out loud
and watched as the letters mixed with the clouds above

Your name spoken was a magic spell,
setting the world around me in motion,
and the hummingbirds buzzed through the air
and the breeze rattled the palm leaves
and then I heard the canyon echo
with my name, coming back to me,
infinitely sacred
